Many animals eg this Ugandan Kob were tested in Uganda for their ability to act as reservoir hosts of sleeping sickness see Moloo, Kutuza and Boreham. 1980. Ann. Trop. Med. Parasitol. 74: 219-237 Studies were conducted on origins of blood meals of Glossina spp and the implications of feeding patterns on the epidemiology of sleeping sickness. The main groups of hosts were identified by precipitin tests and the individual species of animal was determined by the haemagglutination test.
